Rudolph Howell Inducted into the JCC Foundation Society of the Open Door September 4, 2002
During the ceremony, Howell was presented a replica of The Rescue, a statue by local artist and JCC faculty member Frank Creech. Foundation Director Al Warrick said, "The statue depicts a man, perched on a rocky ledge, reaching out to assist a fellow man in a time of need. Mr. Howell and fellow humanitarians who have come before him, are paving a way for the JCC Foundation and College to reach out and make a difference in the lives of our students and the community as a whole." Rudolph A. "Rudy" Howell is a major benefactor to the College Foundation and Johnston Community College. His gift of more than 2,800 acres of land on the Neuse River, the largest donation to a North Carolina community college by a private citizen, has become the Rudolph Howell and Son Environmental Learning Center. |
