JCC To Offer Compressed Associate In Arts Degree

July 15, 2002

Beginning fall semester 2002, Johnston Community College is offering a new degree program designed for full-time working adults who wish to complete a degree in two years. The Compressed Associate in Arts Degree program is for persons who are employed full-time, and who wish to earn an associate in arts degree with the intention of transferring to a four-year college.

When asked about the new program, Dean of Curriculum Programs Donnye Rooks said, "I believe this is an excellent opportunity for mature students to earn college credit in an 8 week time frame as opposed to 16 weeks."

Classes will be held in the evening in eight-week sessions. Students will be required to take two classes during each eight-week session. A total of forty-eight (48) semester hours will be completed during the two fall and spring sessions. Remaining credit hours will be offered during the summer sessions. Classes for the upcoming fall session will begin on August 19 for the first eight weeks and October 21 for the second eight-week session.

The program requires advisement and additional information is available. To learn how to enroll, contact Louise Deaton at 209-2040. For more information about these or other programs offered at JCC, access our web site at www.johnstoncc.edu.
