Johnston Community College Students Nominees for 2002-2003 All-USA Academic Team December 13, 2002 ![]() Lesa F. Holcomb and Elizabeth D. Woodruff have been selected as nominees to represent Johnston Community College in the 2002-2003 All-USA Academic Team Competition. Holcomb and Woodruff, shown left and right respectively in photo with Tom Howerton, JCC English instructor and Phi Theta Kappa Advisor, join nominees from other junior and community colleges across the nation in this competition. Sixty first-place winners will be selected. Winners and their institutions will be featured in USA Today. The top twenty winners will also receive a $2,500 stipend. Holcomb is pursuing an Associate in Science degree and her long-term goal is to pursue a career in crime scene investigation. Woodruff is working toward her associate degree in the Early Childhood department. Phi Theta Kappa, the American Association of Community Colleges, and USA TODAY are the sponsors for this year’s All-USA Academic Team Competition. This program recognizes scholarly achievements and leadership accomplishments of students enrolled in community, technical, and junior colleges. |
