Hunt Selected as Finalist for Excellence in Teaching Competition September 23, 2002
Hunt was recently selected JCC Teacher of the Year 2002 and was nominated by her peers for the Excellence in Teaching Award. The nomination was based on Hunt's ability to lead and motivate students, quality instruction, innovative teaching style, leadership beyond the classroom on campus, and support of the mission of the college. A full-time English instructor at JCC, she is advisor of the newly established Literary Guild at the college, serves on the JCC Student Advisory Council, the Executive Committee of the JCC Faculty Association, the North Carolina Community College Faculty Association, and the National Council for Teachers of English. Hunt advanced to the semi-finalist stage after a screening and interview process conducted by System Office staff and previous award finalists. The State Board of the North Carolina Community College System established the "Excellence In Teaching" program in 1985. The objective of the program is to identify and recognize North Carolina Community College System instructors who have consistently demonstrated excellence in teaching to their students and college. |
