Steps to a Successful Advising Appointment

1. Are you in the correct program/curriculum?

If not, then go to Student Services and complete a Change of Major Form. Change of major forms need to be submitted to a counselor in Student Services.

2. Are you in the right place for Advising?

The CAP advises Developmental Studies, AGE-M (Pre-Health Programs), Associate of Arts and Sciences, Special Students and Distance Learners.

For information on your advisor, see the Who is my advisor? page.

3. Go to your WebAdvisor account to ensure your contact information is accurate and you can access it for registration.

4. Review your program of study and know what classes you need to take. The CAP has copies of Programs of Study.

5. Make sure you review pre-requisites and co-requisites by looking in the course catalog or clicking on the course pre-fix listing on the WebAdvisor Course Schedule.

6. Remember: Start with your ACA class and Developmental Studies first

7. Review the Current Schedule on WebAdvisor and build a tentative schedule.

8. Go to the Center for Academic Planning Website by going to Quick links on our home page and click on Advising.

9. We recommend all students complete a FAFSA application.
(Financial circumstances may change and having that completed can save time and help the school assist you).

Print out an Educational Planning Worksheet for your records.
