The North Carolina Truck Driver Training School has the distinction of being the
oldest and most successful truck driver training school in this nation. In
1949, North Carolina State University and members of the North Carolina Motor
Carriers Association launched the program to help improve the industry by
providing for safer, smarter, and more responsible truck driving professionals.
In 1974, the School was transferred to Johnston Community College to administer
and expand the offering under a curriculum program.
Today, the program provides structured and unparalleled standards in teaching excellence, and superior quality training and value for our industries and communities. The School is sponsored and endorsed by the NC Trucking Association and its members, and is also accredited by the American Trucking Association.
The NC Truck Driver Training School, Johnston Community College, is certified by the State of North Carolina Division of Motor Vehicles as a Third Party Tester and is authorized to administer and score the Commercial Driver License Skills Test pursuant to provisions and authority of the Division.
