Magnetic Resonance Imaging Technology
ECC/JCC Admission Criteria
Applicants are admitted under the provisions of the admission policies of
Edgecombe Community College (which are set forth in the Student
Catalog) and under the provisions of the admission policies as stated in the
CT/MRI Program Student Handbook. Applicants are selected on the basis of their
qualifications for education, the number of available student positions in the
program, and the completion of the following criteria:
- Submit a completed application for admission to the Computed
Tomography/Magnetic Resonance Imaging Program to the Admissions Office at
the ECC Rocky Mount Center.
- Request that official secondary and post secondary transcripts be sent to
the Admissions Office at the Rocky Mount Center. Applicants must have a high
school diploma or equivalence that included general physics, biological
science, algebra, and communication skills coursework.
- Have graduated or will graduate from an accredited Associate or Bachelor
Degree Radiography Program and be ARRT registered or registry eligible prior
to entering the CT/MRI Program.
- Submit final college transcripts verifying completion of an AMA approved
Radiography Program.
- Submit verification of ARRT status to the Admissions Office at the Rocky
Mount Center.
- Submit three letters of recommendation to the Admissions Office at the
Rocky Mount Center. Two of the three letters must be from the following: (1)
Radiography Program Director; (2) Clinical Coordinator; (3) Radiography
Instructor; (4) Employer; and/or (5) Radiologist.
- Be interviewed by the CT/MRI Committee. The Admissions Committee will be
composed of representatives from the clinical education centers, an ECC
Admissions Counselor, and the Computed Tomography and Magnetic Resonance
Imaging Faculty.
- Applicants will receive a formal letter of acceptance within a week after
the scheduled interviews.
- If accepted, the applicant must be computer proficient and CPR certified
prior to registration.
- Have a physical examination performed by a licensed practicing physician,
indicating good physical and emotional health. Submit the medical
examination form to the Admissions Office at the Rocky Mount Center within
90 days prior to the start of clinical education.
