Real Estate - Residential Contractors Lincensing

Real Estate Pre License Course

This 80 hour course provides the required training for becoming a salesperson/broker in North Carolina. This class is approved by the NC Real Estate Commission for licensure. Students must pass a required exam with 80% to successfully complete the course. (Prepaid registration is required)

Pre-Requisite for Enrollment

Participants will be required to obtain a Gold Career Readiness Certificate to be eligible to enroll in the course.

This requirement can be completed by taking the three ACT WorkKeys Assessment tests for the three subject areas listed below.
A fee of $10.00 per assessment is due at the time of testing.

This prerequisite will help prepare you for the successful completion of the state Real Estate Licensing examination. If additional study is needed, a program of pre and post training is available from Johnston Community College’s Continuing Education Division.

It is our desire that all students have successful completion of their goals. Pre-test training fees are standard Continuing Education fees based on hours of instruction.

Real Estate Post Licensing Class

This is one of the three 30-classroom hour mandatory postlicensing courses that must be completed by newly licensed North Carolina provisional brokers within three years after licensure. The primary objective of the course is to provide instruction at a level beyond that provided in prelicensing courses on topics deemed to be of special importance to licensees.

Topics addressed in this course include commercial real estate brokerage, residential property management, land use controls, loan fraud, license law issues and case studies, fair housing, establishing a brokerage firm, and manufactured and modular homes. An examination at the end of the course must be passed with 75% for satisfactory course completion.

Contracts and Closings

This course is one of the three 30 hour courses designed to assist the provisional broker to meet the 90-hour post-licensing education requirement set by the NC Real Estate Commission. Topics addressed in this course include selected basic contract law concepts, real estate sales contract preparation, sales contract procedures, closing procedures and closing statement preparation, and real estate license status and education issues. The examination minimum passing is 75%. (Prepaid registration is required)

Residential/General Contractors License

Would you like to be your own boss and build homes? This 15 hour class prepares students to sit for the residential and or general contractor’s licensing exam. Emphasis will be placed on types of questions found on the exam. (Prepaid Registration is required.)
