Johnston Community College Continuing Education can provide economical, customized training to meet the needs of local businesses, industries, and organizations. Courses can be offered in the workplace for your convenience or on the Johnston Community College campus.
- Occupational Extension
- Occupational Extension courses are single classes specifically
designed to provide training that upgrades the skills of employees or retrains
individuals for new employment in different occupational fields. Courses are normally scheduled upon request of the company or organization and can be tailored to a specific skill area.
- In-Plant Training
- In-Plant Training is a limited application occupational extension program
that is used when duplicating a business or industry work environment at the college is not feasible. The college staff provides training course development services to local business and industry.
- New and Expanding Industry Training
- The New and Expanding Industry program is to promote the expansion of existing
industries and to assist in the training of employees for new industries being established in North Carolina. Upon request from a new or expanding industry, JCC will provide a training program individualized to meet the firm's specific needs. Approved training programs for new and expanding industries are funded by the State of North Carolina.
- Focused Industrial Training
- Focused Industrial Training provides more extensive occupational extension
courses in critical industrial skills without the usual constraints, such as minimum class enrollment.
- Basic Skills Programs
- Adult Basic Education offers persons eighteen and older the opportunity
to develop essential language and math skills needed by everyone in modern society. The program is designed to help individuals better understand information and make decisions that affect their lives.
English as a Second Language is a program that provides instructional opportunities for adult limited English proficient students to acquire skills in listening, speaking, reading, writing, and comprehension of the English language and acculturation to the society of the United States.
Adult High School Diploma Program, co-sponsored by JCC and the Johnston County Board of Education, is designed to meet the needs of those adults who have not completed high school.
- Small Business Center
- The Small Business Center was
created to deliver technical and managerial assistance to small business owners
and prospective owners by providing information, education and training,
counseling and referral, and other technical/managerial assistance as
appropriate.
