Emergency Telecommunicator

The telecommunicator course is a 40-hour (minimum) course designed to introduce students to the exciting and challenging field of emergency telecommunications. This course covers the roles and responsibilities of emergency telecommunicators, emergency telecommunication technologies, interpersonal communication, and caller management (police, fire and medical).

Requirements

Students who wish to be certified as professional emergency telecommunicators by NAED must:

be 18 years of age
attend an Emergency Telecommunicator course taught by a NAED-certified ETC Instructor
pass the ETC certification test with a score of 80 percent or better
agree to abide by the NAED Code of Ethics
submit a completed ETC certification application along with $45 for the fee and cost of book

ETC certification is valid for two years.
