Personal Finances

Non self-supporting courses are free to senior citizens aged 65 or older.  There are no fee exemptions allowed for self-supporting courses. The registration fee must be paid by all class participants. Registration fees vary depending upon cost of the course and minimum enrollment of students. No refunds are permitted for withdrawal from self-supporting courses unless the course is canceled by the College. Self-supporting courses are noted by (SS) beside the class title.  For senior computer classes, all students must pay the technology fee regardless of age. 

Written directions and some maps are available for JCC locations.

Do you earn a good income but still find yourself struggling to get ahead? Do you typically have more month than money? It’s not your fault. The problem is that in school you learned about the War of 1812, not “Money Management 101”! How can you be successful without proper knowledge and tools?

This workshop will empower you to take complete control of your money and consistently make choices that support your financial goals. Develop the foundational skills of financially successful people, gain insight into your hidden “Spending Personality:” and learn a simple, but effective method of money management that combines modern technology with old fashioned common sense. Optional textbook, Invest in Your Debt, coauthored by the instructor, will be available for purchase. Pre-registration is required.

How to Overcome Bad Credit and Improve Your FICO (SS*)

If past credit issues are preventing you from moving forward toward your financial goals, then this workshop is a must. In today’s society, your FICO score is used for a lot more than just granting credit, so achieving and maintaining a good credit rating is more important than ever.

Learn simple strategies to turn bad credit into good credit and good credit into great credit. Topics include understanding the factors that determine your FICO score, The Fair Credit Reporting Act, how Credit Bureaus operate and how to dramatically improve your credit rating in 120 days or less.
